Studebaker Around The World

Studebaker entered the export field in 1876 and by 1890 the development of foreign markets had progressed to the point that Studebaker was then represented in the principal cities of the world. Eventually, Studebaker was represented in every market where automotive transportation existed.

The Studebaker Export Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary, was responsible for establishing and maintaining Studebaker's organization abroad. Studebaker products were sole in overseas markets through distributors, dealers, and subdealers with modern showrooms and modern, well equipped service stations. Millions of dollars were invested after World War II to expand and improved overseas facilities for sales and service.

The use of assembly and manufacturing plants abroad greatly increased the speed and efficiency of supplying these markets with Studebaker products. The nearest of these to South Bend was located in Canada and was operated by The Studebaker Corporation of Canada, Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary. Other plants, distributor-owned and operated, were located in India, South Africa, Brazil, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Mexico, Egypt and Ireland.
