Studebaker was involved in a number of mergers and acquisitions over the years. The acquisition of the E-M-F Company in 1910 enabled Studebaker to enter the automobile industry on a large scale. Numerous acquisitions in the late 1950's and early 1960's enabled the Studebaker to survive after exiting the automobile industry in 1966. In between, Studebaker acquired Pierce-Arrow and was acquired by Packard. A failed attempt to merge with truck manufacturer White Motor Company was a contributing factor in Studebaker's entering into receivership in 1933. As we continue to develop StudebakerHistory.com, those stories will be told here.
